High Poly To Low Poly Blender Tutorial

Introduction

Most 3D artists use Blender for creating high-poly models. High-poly models are detailed models that can be used for rendering and animation. They usually have a high number of vertices and edges. But, if you want to make a game or use the model in a 3D printer, you need to reduce the number of vertices and edges to a manageable level. This process is called Low Poly Modeling. In this tutorial, we are going to explain how to convert a high-poly model into a low-poly model using Blender.

Step 1: Open Your High-Poly Model

The first step is to open your high-poly model in Blender. You can do this by clicking on the File menu and then selecting Open. Then, select the file you want to open. Once your model is open, you will see it in the 3D view.

Step 2: Reduce the Number of Vertices and Edges

The next step is to reduce the number of vertices and edges in your model. To do this, you need to select all the vertices and edges in your model by pressing the “A” key. Then, press the “W” key and select “Subdivide” from the menu that appears. This will reduce the number of vertices and edges in your model. You can repeat this step until you reach the desired number of vertices and edges.

Step 3: Delete Unnecessary Parts

Once you have reduced the number of vertices and edges, you need to delete any unnecessary parts. To do this, select the part you want to delete and press the “X” key. This will delete the part from your model. Repeat this step until you have removed all the unnecessary parts from your model.

Step 4: Simplify the Model

The next step is to simplify the model. To do this, select all the vertices and edges in your model by pressing the “A” key. Then, press the “W” key and select “Simplify” from the menu that appears. This will reduce the number of polygons in your model. You can repeat this step until you reach the desired number of polygons.

Step 5: Check the Model

Once you have simplified the model, you need to check that it is still accurate. To do this, you can rotate and zoom in on the model to check that all the parts are still in the correct position. You can also use the “Measure” tool to check that the distances between parts are still correct.

Step 6: Export the Model

Finally, you need to export the model. To do this, click on the File menu and then select Export. Then, select the file format you want to export to. Once the file is exported, you can open it in your 3D printer or game engine.
