Hanging 3d Solar System Model

How to Make a 3D Hanging Solar System Model
Making a 3D hanging model of the solar system is an excellent way to teach children and adults alike about our solar system. It’s an educational activity and a fun DIY project that you can take on with the help of a few supplies. With a bit of patience, you can create a beautiful 3D model of the solar system that you can hang in your home or classroom.
Things You’ll Need
To make your own 3D hanging solar system model, you’ll need a few supplies. These include a large Styrofoam ball, a piece of twine, paint, a sharp knife, and craft glue. You’ll also need a few small Styrofoam balls in various sizes. The number of balls you use will depend on how many planets you plan to make.
Step 1: Cut the Large Styrofoam Ball
Start by cutting the large Styrofoam ball in half using a sharp knife. This will provide you with two hemispheres that you can use as the base of your 3D model. It’s also a good idea to sand the edges of the Styrofoam ball to make it easier to paint.
Step 2: Paint the Hemispheres
Once you’ve cut the Styrofoam ball, you can begin painting the two hemispheres. Paint the top hemisphere black to represent space and then paint the bottom hemisphere blue to represent the Earth. Allow the paint to dry thoroughly before continuing with the project.
Step 3: Glue the Small Balls
Once your paint is dry, take the small Styrofoam balls and glue them onto the black hemisphere. The small balls should be placed in a circular pattern around the hemisphere. Each of the balls should represent a different planet in the solar system.
Step 4: Glue the Hemispheres Together
Once the small balls have been glued in place, take the two hemispheres and glue them together. It’s important to make sure that the two hemispheres are lined up correctly before gluing them together. Allow the glue to dry before continuing with the project.
Step 5: Attach the Twine
Once the glue has dried, you can attach the twine to the top hemisphere. This will be used to hang your 3D model when it’s complete. Take the twine and tie it securely to the top hemisphere.
Step 6: Hang the Model
Once you’ve attached the twine, you can hang your 3D model. Hang it from the ceiling or a wall in your home or classroom. Your 3D model of the solar system is now complete and ready to enjoy.
