Gather Supplies

Making a 3D owl model requires a few basic supplies. Before you get started, make sure you have the following items on hand: craft foam, a craft knife, a ruler, scissors, glue, colorful feathers, googly eyes, and a pencil. You can find all of these supplies at most craft stores.

Cut Shapes

Using a craft knife and ruler, cut two pieces of craft foam into an oval shape. One oval should be slightly larger than the other. This will form the owl’s body. Cut two circles out of craft foam for the wings. Cut out two ear shapes and two foot shapes from the craft foam as well. Make sure all of your shapes are slightly larger than you want the finished product to be because the foam will shrink slightly as it dries.

Trace the Shapes onto Cardstock

Once all of your shapes are cut, trace them onto cardstock. Cut the shapes out of the cardstock and set aside.

Assemble the Body

Using a craft knife, carefully cut two slits in the smaller oval. Place the wings into the slits and glue them in place. Glue the larger oval on top of the wings and smaller oval, creating the body of the owl.

Add the Details

Glue the cardstock shapes onto the craft foam body. Place the ears on the top of the head and the feet at the bottom. Glue the feathers onto the wings, head, and tail. Lastly, add the googly eyes to the face.

Allow the Model to Dry

Set the model aside and allow it to dry completely. This could take up to 24 hours.

Enjoy Your 3D Owl Model

Once the model is dry, you can enjoy your 3D owl model. You can use it for decoration or give it to a friend as a gift. Congratulations on a job well done!
