How To Add A 3d Object In After Effects
Creating a 3D Object
Adding a 3D object to a video in After Effects can be a daunting task for some, but with a few simple steps, you’ll be able to create a stunning 3D object to use in your video. To begin, you’ll need to create a 3D object. You can do this either by creating an object from scratch using shapes, or you can use a 3D object you’ve created in another program, such as Blender or Cinema 4D. Once you’ve created the object, you’ll need to export it as an .obj file so you can import it into After Effects.
Importing the 3D Object
Once you’ve created the 3D object, you’ll need to import it into After Effects. To do this, open up After Effects and select the ‘File’ menu and then the ‘Import’ option. From here, you’ll be able to select the 3D object file you’ve created and import it into After Effects. After Effects will then ask you to select which type of 3D object you’d like to import. Make sure to select ‘OBJ’ as this is the type of file you’ve created.
Adding the 3D Object to the Composition
Once you’ve imported the 3D object into After Effects, it’s time to add it to your composition. To do this, open up the ‘Composition’ menu and then select the ‘New Composition’ option. From here, you’ll be able to name your composition and select the size and duration. Once you’ve done this, you’ll need to select the ‘Create’ option. After doing this, you’ll be able to see your 3D object in the composition window.
Animating the 3D Object
Now that you’ve added your 3D object to the composition, you’ll need to animate it. To do this, you’ll need to select the ‘Animation’ menu and then the ‘Keyframe’ option. From here, you’ll be able to select which parameters you’d like to animate. You’ll be able to select from a range of parameters such as position, scale, rotation, and more. After selecting the parameters you’d like to animate, you’ll need to set the start and end points for each parameter.
Adding Effects to the 3D Object
Once you’ve finished animating your 3D object, you’ll need to add some effects to it. To do this, you’ll need to select the ‘Effects’ menu and then the ‘Add Effects’ option. From here, you’ll be able to select from a range of effects to add to your 3D object. You’ll be able to select from effects such as color correction, blur, glow, and more. Once you’ve selected the effects you’d like to add, you’ll need to adjust each effect to your liking.
Rendering the 3D Object
Once you’ve finished animating and adding effects to your 3D object, you’ll need to render it. To do this, you’ll need to select the ‘Render’ menu and then the ‘Render Settings’ option. From here, you’ll be able to select the format, resolution, and frame rate of the rendered video. Once you’ve selected the settings you’d like to use, you’ll need to select the ‘Render’ button to begin the rendering process.
